Nick Jonas, Beyond Type 1, and Dexcom
In a media world filled with negative headlines and stories about Diabetes, Nick Jonas is trying to change the dialogue. He knows all too well what it's like to live with Diabetes, as he has been living with Type 1 Diabetes since the age of thirteen.
Many families are searching for inspiration and role models from Hollywood celebrities to raise awareness about type one and other forms of diabetes. While some Diabetes advocates have been critical of celebrities who talk about Diabetes only when it serves their best interest, most Diabetes Advocates welcome Nick Jonas taking on Diabetes as his cause and using his celebrity and Hollywood platform to raise awareness and educate people about managing their disease while living a healthy and active lifestyle.
Nick Jonas is known for being involved in many charitable causes, including working with non-profits such as Beyond Type 1 and Very Special Arts, however Diabetes has been Nick Jonas' cause for a number of years. When he was only 17 years old, Nick listened to an advocate speak about Diabetes and decided that he would use his celebrity status to help raise awareness and educate people about Diabetes.
While Nick Jonas is committed to helping Diabetes Advocates and raising awareness about Diabetes, he also uses his Dexcom continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system to monitor his Diabetes, especially when it comes to exercise. Nick has since become a brand sponsor for Dexcom and advocates for using a CGM to help better manage Diabetes.
